How To Break In A New Baseball Glove
If you've just bought yourself a new baseball glove, you will find that it is a bit stiff
and hard to use at first. It always takes a little bit of time to break in a new glove and to allow it to shape to
your hand comfortably. This is the key reason that you should spend time to actually break your glove in before you
play any serious baseball with it.
One of the things that you have to do to break in your new glove is to soften up the
leather. There are many ways to get the leather nice and soft. Number one is, of course, simply using it. Regular
use will soften it up. Alternatively, there are special lotions and oils that you can use that are specifically
designed to help soften up a glove and break it in.
Not only does the glove in general need to be broken in, but most importantly is the
pocket of the glove. It needs to be very flexible to allow you to catch the ball easily. A great way to do this is
to get together a lot of rubber bands, fold your glove in half and put the bands around it. If you do this every
night, the pocket will quickly break in and you will find it much easier to catch those fast balls.
